Senior Fashion Guide
A little planning is important in deciding your clothing styles for Senior pictures!! A few things to keep in mind when you are putting together those perfect outfits… Color Combinations, Textures, and Accessories! Oh, and Dress to Impress… these pictures will be shown off because you’re AMAZING!!! A good “go-to” is to bring a variety of outfits that show off your true personality: a classic style, a casual look, & something more funky/trendy/specific to you. Always pick tailored clothing that accentuates your best assets.
Think about putting together colors that compliment each other or are in the same “shade” family. Use inspiration from you favorite color, what compliments your skin tone, & what you feel most comfy/confident in ~ after all these are YOUR senior portraits! Many clients like to have one bold color outfit, another more neutral, & black is always classic. Location choice and time of the year can also provide good inspiration for color combo’s – what you would pick for a summer shoot at the beach is not what you should pick for a fall shoot at the farm. Bright – jewel toned colors ROCK. Make sure to have NUDE under garments.
When adding texture to your outfit it can be in a variety of things (important thing is that you add it). A scarf, fringe on boots, ruffles on shirt, flowing skirt fabrics, sweater or jacket, layers, layers, & maybe a layer to two… these can all add an element of depth and movement to your portraits that can help enhance your images. Guys should always bring a plain white, gray, or black T-shirt for either layering or just to have as a classic modern “go-to” choice. Girls ~ please make sure to bring appropriate “1st layer” (aka: under garments) for each outfit – tanks, bras, etc.
Attention to detail and adding accessories is the final touch. It will easily take your outfit from great to absolutely YES! Rings, bracelets, earrings, hair accessories and this is not just for girls anymore… guys sport some amazing shoes, belts, watches, & hats so show them off!!! Make sure to bring the “right” shoes for each planned outfit.
Do NOT bring wrinkled & dull clothes. Avoid short length skirts, dresses and/or shorts that expose too much when sitting, squatting, or bending over. No cleavage-baring tops & blouses.
